Disclaimer

The objective of Tallahassee Online Police Statistics (TOPS) web site is to provide crime, traffic crash, and quality of life data to the Tallahassee community in a simple to use format. The data on this website is specific to the City of Tallahassee (Tallahassee Police Dept.) and and Leon County Sheriff's Office and is taken directly from the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) application of the Consolidated Dispatch Agency [edited 2013]. Please note that the activities shown are taken from calls for service, which are defined as a call or complaint generated by a citizen to the Department, or an incident identified and documented by an officer in the field. Because these statistics are based on how a call is initially classified in the CAD system, they are not official crime statistics. For instance, a call may be classified in the CAD as a “weapons call” or a “deceased person” but when officers respond they discover a homicide. Because of the coding in the CAD system this will not show as a homicide in (TOPS). Similarly, a call may be initially classified as “vandalism” but responding officers discover a burglary. Unless the initial coding is changed it would not show as a burglary in (TOPS). For official crime statistics visit FDLE Uniform Crime Reports (UCR)

The web site data is searchable through numerous formats such as date range, activity type, proximity to an address, a specific geographic boundary, neighborhood association, and additional parameters. It is important that users understand the icon legend, the definition of each activity, and follow the prescribed directions.

I understand that the information from this site is for informational purposes only and does not reflect official crime statistics.

Active, 24 Hour, and Historical Views

There are three different views available in the Tallahassee Online Police Statistics (TOPS) application. The different views can be accessed by selecting them from the Views dropdown button on the map.

The TOPS application will display Active calls on initial page load.
Active
Calls for service that are currently being handled by the Tallahassee Police Department and Leon County Sheriff's Office. The call description is as received by the Consolidated Dispatch Center; the final outcome of the investigation may be different. A count of the incidents is always available on the main page underneath the banner logo and a detailed report can be found under the Results menu. This information is delayed to ensure scene integrity and public safety.

Active calls are highlighted with the icon.
24 Hour
Incidents handled by the Tallahassee Police Department and Leon County Sheriff's Office for the past 24 hours. This data is updated every hour. The number of incidents from the last 24 hours is displayed in the header and a detailed report can be found under the Results menu.
Historical
Incidents handled by the Tallahassee Police Department and Leon County Sheriff's Office over a pre-selected amount of time, up to 365 days. The historical data is updated nightly.

To access data for the historical view an Address search or Historical search must be performed. A detailed report of the searched incidents can be found under the Results menu.
